Let’s face it: change can be very stressful and moving is one of the most daunting changes we can face. One of my biggest goals as a Downsizing Consultant is to reduce the amount of stress an older person feels after moving into a new home.
As you settle into your new space, here’s a simple tip to make life a little easier: labelling drawers and cupboards so you know where to find things and don’t have to open every cupboard to find what you’re looking for.

For a recent downsizing move from a spacious penthouse condo into a one bedroom suite at a retirement residence, I had to clear out a big walk-in closet at the old place, and fit all my client’s clothes into drawers at the new place. To reduce stress for my client, I labelled all her drawers so she can easily find the items she needs.

Labelling drawers and cupboards in your new home can save a lot of confusion and frustration. Whether it’s the kitchen, bathroom, or bedroom, a well-labeled system can make finding items in your new home a breeze.
Imagine never having to rummage through unfamiliar drawers or cupboards to find what you need! And with clear labels, family members and housekeeping staff will also know exactly where to find and put things away.
You can remove the labels once you become familiar with your new digs, or leave them on forever if you like.
Take the first step to reduce daily stress in your new home. Labels are a small change that make a big difference!
Wishing you a peaceful and organized home in 2024.
Warm regards,
Anney
